“Mom’s Story”: Supermom Zhang Yujie, founder of Genesis Nursing, has two children and travels extensively in Taitung County. She provides monthly home care services to nearly 100 vegetative patients in remote areas!

「ママの物語」：創世看護のスーパーママ、張雨潔さんは2人の子供を持ち、台東県を広く移動しています。彼女は遠隔地域に住む植物人患者約100人に月に一度、在宅ケアサービスを提供しています！

每年的5月12日是國際護理師節，用來紀念南丁格爾犧牲奉獻的精神，並表彰護理工作的使命和專業。疫情期間，護理人員堅守崗位辛勤投入，在防疫中扮演重要角色；而在創世安養院裡，日夜照顧植物人的生活需求，更是需要耐心與愛心的工作。

創世基金會臺東院資深護理師太魯閣族張雨潔，守護植物人邁入第10年，做到宅服務時每月需訪視近百名植物人，她說：「阿貴阿嬤是我服務的第一位個案，長時間都是毛巾擦拭清潔身體，直到6年前居服員轉介後，我才開始協助原床泡澡服務。阿嬤多年來終於洗澡了，看到家屬的期待，從那時候開始，就算我挺著8個月大的孕肚，也一定排除萬難幫阿嬤洗澡。」從原本害怕開車，到上山下海走遍臺東縣市鄉鎮村里，有2個孩子的張雨潔看到不同的生命故事，也體會到家屬的艱苦，更加感恩自己有能力能幫助他們。

安養院內護理師和生活服務員每2小時為植物人翻身、拍背及更換尿布，每4小時鼻胃管灌食、給藥、抽痰及生命監測，24小時日夜輪班，均以院民的照護需求為優先考量，面對生命照顧的責任，有著外人難以理解的壓力和挑戰。尤其近年來各種病毒、細菌流行，更是時刻繃緊神經，仔細觀察，避免抵抗力低弱的植物人受感染，但這些努力和辛苦，卻無法從照顧對象得到回饋， 今年適逢國際護師節與母親節同一天，讓我們代替無聲的植物人，一起向所有的護理人員說聲祝福和謝謝，感謝他們的付出及奉獻，並給予更多的肯定和尊重。

Every May 12th is International Nurses Day, commemorating the spirit of sacrifice and dedication of Florence Nightingale and honoring the mission and professionalism of nursing. During the pandemic, nurses have been steadfast in their commitment, playing a crucial role in disease prevention. At the Genesis Nursing Home, caregivers tirelessly attend to the needs of vegetative patients, requiring patience and compassion.

Senior nurse Zhang Yujie, of the Taitung branch of the Genesis Foundation, has been caring for vegetative patients for a decade. Even during home visits, she attends to nearly a hundred patients monthly. She said, “Ah Gui Ah Ma was my first case. I used to clean her with towels until a home care worker referred her to me six years ago. Since then, despite being eight months pregnant, I’ve never hesitated to help her bathe.”

Overcoming her fear of driving, Zhang has traversed Taitung’s towns and villages, encountering diverse life stories and appreciating the hardships of families. Inside the nursing home, nurses and caregivers rotate shifts every two hours, repositioning, massaging, and changing diapers for patients. Every four hours, they administer feeding, medication, suction, and monitor vital signs, prioritizing residents’ needs. They face immense pressure and challenges, especially amid recent outbreaks, striving to prevent infections among vulnerable patients. Despite their efforts, they often receive no feedback from their patients. This year, International Nurses Day coincides with Mother’s Day, offering an opportunity to express gratitude to all nurses, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifice and showing them more appreciation and respect.

Since its establishment in 1986, the Genesis Foundation has operated 17 nursing homes and three branches across Taiwan, with 170 nurses and 161 caregivers providing professional care. 5月12日は国際看護師デーであり、フローレンス・ナイチンゲールの犠牲と奉仕の精神を記念し、看護の使命と専門性を称える日です。パンデミックの間、看護師たちは不屈の努力をし、疫病予防において重要な役割を果たしています。ジェネシス老人ホームでは、植物状態の患者の世話に忍耐と思いやりが必要です。

ジェネシス財団の台東支部のシニアナース、張雨洁さんは、植物状態の患者を10年間看護しています。彼女は、「アーグイアーマーは私の最初のケースでした。6年前に介護士が彼女を紹介してくれるまで、タオルで清潔を保っていました。それ以来、8か月の妊娠中でも、彼女をお風呂に入れるのを躊躇したことはありません」と述べました。 張さんは、運転の恐怖を克服し、台東の町や村々を訪れ、様々な生活の物語に出会い、家族の苦労を感じています。

看護ホーム内では、看護師と介護士が2時間ごとに交代し、患者の身を動かし、マッサージし、おむつを交換します。4時間ごとに、彼らは給餌、薬物投与、吸引、生命徴候のモニタリングを行い、住民のニーズを優先します。彼らは膨大なプレッシャーと課題に直面し、特に最近の感染拡大の中で、弱者の患者の感染を防ぐ努力をしています。それにもかかわらず、彼らはしばしば患者からのフィードバックを受け取れません。今年は国際看護師デーが母の日と重なり、全ての看護師に感謝し、彼らの献身と犠牲を認め、彼らにもっと感謝と尊敬を示す機会となります。
