Taiwan National University’s Fourteen Outstanding Students: Hualien High School Sets New Record for Same Cohort, Second Highest in History

113學年度國立台灣大學申請入學於6/3放榜，花中計正取6人備取3人，連同日前特殊選材、奧林匹亞保送與繁星推薦錄取8人，總計目前已錄取台大高達14人，這台大十四秀是花中同時期歷史次高（最高為去年17人），這也是花中今年繼上週締造醫科七傑後，今台大十四秀再一次創造優異成績，真的難能可貴令人驚豔！

In the 2024 academic year, National Taiwan University released its admissions results on June 3rd. Hwa Chong Institution has produced an outstanding cohort of 14 students admitted to NTU, with 6 admitted directly and 3 on the waiting list. Combined with 8 students admitted through special selection, Olympiad recommendations, and Stellar program referrals earlier, this marks a significant achievement, second only to last year’s record of 17 admissions. Following last week’s accomplishment of producing seven medical school admissions, Hwa Chong Institution continues to excel with this remarkable feat of 14 students admitted to NTU. Truly commendable and impressive!

花中今年台大十四秀成員分佈於普通班6人與數理資優班8人，再次證明花中普通班學生的優秀，與資優班並駕齊驅不惶多讓，錄取台大的同學分別為：申請入學錄取者6人：陳宥彣台大機械工程學系、陳恩泓台大機械工程學系、顧懷允台大工商管理系、余俊毅台大希望組化學系、潘邦任台大昆蟲學系、沈永恩台大社會工作學系，繁星推薦與特殊選材錄取者8人：藍睿瑜台大法律系、周宗穎台大資訊工程系、吳修丞台大物理系、卓奕鳴台大園藝暨景觀學系、洪培喻台大生命科學系、闕以諾台大經濟系、楊佾台大心理系與林泰民台大地質系！

Among the students from Hua High School admitted to National Taiwan University this year, there are 6 students from regular classes and 8 students from the gifted program. This once again demonstrates the excellence of students from regular classes, who are on par with, if not surpassing, those from the gifted program. The admitted students and their respective departments are as follows: Chen Yu-Wen, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Chen En-Hong, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Gu Huai-Yun, Department of Business Administration; Yu Jun-Yi, Department of Chemistry (HOPES program); Pan Bang-Ren, Department of Entomology; Shen Yong-En, Department of Social Work. The students admitted through the STAR program and special selection are: Lan Rui-Yu, Department of Law; Zhou Zong-Ying, Department of Computer Science; Wu Xiu-Cheng, Department of Physics; Zhuo Yi-Ming, Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture; Hong Pei-Yu, Department of Life Sciences; Que Ye-Nuo, Department of Economics; Yang Yi, Department of Psychology; and Lin Tai-Min, Department of Geology.

花中表示，目前大學升學特殊選材、繁星推薦、獨立招生、申請入學與軍事院校等管道均已放榜，花中已確定錄取正取醫科7人（應屆3人）、藥學2人、台大14人、清交成政22人，醫藥學系與國立頂尖大學共有41人，中字輩、師字輩..等一流國立超過120人次，其他國立亦超過140人次，總計目前藥學系與國立大學正取生超過320人次，比例超過75%。因為申請入學有學生重複錄取的情形，備取生亦有機會遞補為正取，所有的正取生與備取生將於6/8填寫志願序，由大學甄選委員會統一分發，於6/14正式公告每人錄取的單一校系。屆時花中的錄取成績應會更高於目前正取情況，而屆時全國各校每一位學生在各管道均只能選擇唯一錄取校系，那時候起就不存在所謂的錄取人次，而是只有最真實最準確的錄取人數與榜單了！

According to Huazhong, currently, the channels for university admissions, including special selections, recommendations based on academic excellence, independent admissions, application-based admissions, and military academy admissions, have all released their results. Huazhong has confirmed the admission of 7 students (3 fresh graduates) to medical school, 2 to pharmacy, 14 to National Taiwan University (NTU), and 22 to Tsinghua, Chiao Tung, Cheng Kung University (the CCCU alliance). In total, there are 41 admissions to medical and pharmaceutical programs and top national universities, with over 120 from first-tier national institutions and over 140 from others. This accounts for over 320 admissions, representing over 75%. As some students may have multiple admissions, and waitlisted students may be promoted, the final allocation will be announced on 6/14. It’s expected that Huazhong’s admission scores will surpass the current situation. From then on, students nationwide can only choose one admission, eliminating the concept of admission counts and focusing solely on the most accurate list of admitted students.

花中近年來能持續在升學績效有持續卓越的成長，近十五年來花中整體升學錄取：醫科3—8人、台大6—18人、台清交成政等國立五頂大35-45人、國立中字輩與師字輩..等70—90人、地區型國立70-90人、一級私立80-100人，整體醫藥暨國立錄取率已高達60%，而一級私立暨國立錄取率更是高達85%，國中會考5B+入學的孩子90%均能順利錄取國立大學，此一績效在西部各國立高中是難以看見的，凸顯花中為孩子締造高一級學習成效的優異表現。花中的升學績效不僅為基宜花東屏五縣市之冠，更不惶多讓於西部國立學校，其實花中的孩子入學成績遠不如西部各國立高中，但三年後花中的孩子卻有超越的績效，其主要原因在於：花中有一整套完整的升學輔導戰略，計有5大範疇36項計畫，針對學生不同的興趣目標、條件能力、學測成績，規劃不同的升學管道，並在各管道的各項目做到步步到位環環相扣的輔導，動員校內各處室各師長群策群力，更善用社區大學、校友、家長等各項資源，一起為孩子努力一起成就孩子，這應該才是教育工作者最大的價值與喜悅！

In recent years, Hua High School has shown sustained outstanding growth in academic performance. Over the past fifteen years, the school’s overall college acceptance rates are as follows: 3-8 students into medical schools, 6-18 into National Taiwan University, 35-45 into the top five national universities (NTU, NCTU, NCKU, NCTU, and NSYSU), 70-90 into other national universities and teachers’ colleges, 70-90 into regional national universities, and 80-100 into top-tier private universities. The overall acceptance rate into medical and national universities stands at 60%, while for top-tier private universities, it’s as high as 85%. Remarkably, 90% of students who score 5B+ on the junior high school entrance exam successfully enroll in national universities. Such performance is rare among western national high schools, highlighting Hua High School’s exceptional ability to foster high-level academic achievement in its students. Despite students’ initial academic performance being inferior to those in western national high schools, Hua High School students surpass them within three years. This is attributed to the school’s comprehensive college counseling strategy, comprising 5 categories and 36 plans tailored to students’ interests, abilities, and exam scores. These plans provide different pathways for college admissions, with meticulous guidance at each step. The school mobilizes all departments and teachers, harnesses community colleges, alumni, parents, and other resources to collectively support and achieve success for every student. This, undoubtedly, represents the greatest value and joy for educators.

花中楊鵬耀校長表示：花中今年在大學學測成績有30人達四科頂標（50級分）、繁星推薦67%國立暨醫藥學系高錄取率、申請入學一階98%總通過率，目前在申請入學二階成績亦持續締造優異的佳績，台大目前已正取14人創下花中歷史次高紀錄，殊為難得，是所有同仁辛勤付出與學生努力的成就。花中近年來在教務處規畫的56項升學輔導與強花中學測十論的策略基礎，以及各處室與全體師長的認真努力下，已維持一定的升學績效，去年即締造60.2%國立大學暨醫藥學系的高錄取率，這是在西部學校所難以看見的，以花中入學的學生素質遠較西部為低，有此佳績更是難得，非常感謝全體師長的辛勞，讓我們一起繼續努力成就孩子為孩子圓夢。

Principal Yang Pengyao of Huazhong High School stated: “This year, Huazhong High School had 30 students achieve the top score (50 points) in four subjects in the university entrance exam, with a 67% acceptance rate for National Taiwan University’s Medical Department through the Special Stars program, and a 98% overall pass rate for first-stage admission applications. Currently, our students are also achieving excellent results in the second-stage admission applications, with 14 students already admitted to National Taiwan University, marking the second-highest number in Huazhong’s history. This remarkable achievement is the result of the hard work of all colleagues and the efforts of the students. In recent years, Huazhong High School has maintained a certain level of academic performance through the implementation of 56 promotion counseling strategies by the Academic Affairs Office and the emphasis on the Huazhong Entrance Exam Tenets, as well as the dedication of all departments and teachers. Last year, we achieved a 60.2% acceptance rate for National Universities and Medical Departments, a feat rarely seen in western schools. Considering that the academic quality of students entering Huazhong is generally lower than that of western schools, this achievement is even more commendable.
