“Wow, a time-traveling visitor!” Mr. Ishihara Yoshinori, the director of Saga Hachinohe Post Office in Japan, dressed in a postal uniform from 100 years ago, appeared at Hsing Wu Junior High School in Hualien County on June 11th, causing considerable curiosity and amazement among the students!
「わあ、タイムトラベラーだ！」100年前の日本の郵便配達員の制服を着た佐賀県八戸郵便局の局長、石原資展さんが6月11日に花蓮県の海星中学校に現れ、生徒たちの大きな好奇心と驚きを引き起こしました！
石原資展先生是6/8日應邀來台灣，6/11日來到海星，6/12日至台北吉林國小，6/13回日本。此行的目的是從事文化與教育上交流，同時關懷花蓮縣的0403大地震。
Mr. Motohiro Ishihara was invited to Taiwan on June 8th. He visited Hualien on June 11th and Taipei’s Jilin Elementary School on June 12th before returning to Japan on June 13th. His purpose for this trip was to engage in cultural and educational exchanges, as well as to show concern for the aftermath of the 0403 Hualien earthquake.
石原資展先生は6月8日に招待されて台湾に来られ、6月11日に海星を訪れ、6月12日に台北吉林国小に行かれ、6月13日に日本に帰国されました。今回の訪問の目的は、文化と教育の交流を図ることと、花蓮県の0403大地震に対する支援の気持ちを表すことでした。

石原先生告訴學生們，他穿的這一套衣服是日本郵便局的百年制服，帽子設計尖尖的，是因為日本會下雪，這樣雪就不會堆在帽子上。
Mr. Ishihara told the students that the outfit he was wearing was the hundred-year-old uniform of Japan Post. The pointed design of the hat, he explained, was to prevent snow from accumulating on it during snowy weather in Japan.
石原先生は学生たちに、この服は日本郵便局の百年制服であると伝えました。帽子のデザインが尖っているのは、日本では雪が降るため、雪が帽子に積もらないようにするためだそうです。

花蓮縣海星中學日前迎來一位稀有有趣貴賓，他是來自日本佐賀八戶的郵便局長石原資展先生。佐賀局長，擁有豐富且特別的經歷，不僅曾經代表佐賀參加奧運聖火接力，更在英語教育方面展現了無比的熱忱，對於創校65年首次有日本郵便局長蒞臨，海星中學師生都感到很新鮮有趣。
Haihsing Junior High School in Hualien County recently welcomed a rare and interesting guest, Mr. Ishihara Yoshinobu, the Postmaster of Hachi-ko, Saga, Japan. Mr. Ishihara, representing Saga, has a rich and unique background. Not only has he participated in the Olympic Torch Relay representing Saga, but he has also shown tremendous enthusiasm in English education. The visit marks the first time in the school’s 65-year history that a Postmaster from Japan has visited, making it a fresh and exciting experience for the students and staff of Haihsing Junior High School.
花蓮県の海星中学は最近、珍しくて興味深い貴賓を迎えました。彼は日本佐賀八戸の郵便局長、石原資展氏です。佐賀局長は、豊富で特別な経験を持っており、佐賀を代表してオリンピック聖火リレーに参加しただけでなく、英語教育にも並々ならぬ情熱を注いでいます。創立65年目にして初めて日本の郵便局長が訪れたことで、海星中学の師生たちはとても新鮮で興味深く感じました。

石原先生在日本的小學尚未普及英語教育的時期，已經積極進入校園，教導六年級的學生寫英文信並寄往國外，從而開拓了這些孩子們的國際視野。這份熱忱延續至今，今年年初，海星中學有幸收到來自佐賀六個班級、約250封日本學生的英文書信。這些信件不僅拉近了兩地學生之間的距離，也開啟了一段用英文交朋友的美好經驗。
Mr. Ishihara actively entered Japanese elementary schools at a time when English education was not yet widespread. He had sixth-grade students write English letters and send them overseas, broadening their international perspectives. His passion remains strong; earlier this year, Hoshino Junior High School received about 250 English letters from six classes of Japanese students in Saga. These letters not only bridged the distance between two regions but also provided a wonderful experience of making friends in English.
石原先生は日本の小学校がまだ英語教育が普及していない時代に、積極的に学校に入り、六年生の生徒に英文の手紙を書かせて海外に送ることで、彼らの国際視野を広げました。この情熱は今も変わらず、今年初めには海星中学校が佐賀から約250通の六つのクラスの日本の生徒からの英文手紙を受け取りました。これらの手紙は、二つの地域の生徒たちの距離を縮めるだけでなく、英語で友達を作る素晴らしい経験を提供しました。

在此次交流活動中，海星中學共6個班的學生積極參與，並紛紛表示這是一個既開心又難得的經驗。許多學生原本對用英文交朋友感到困難，但經過這次的交流，他們發現其實沒有想像中的那麼難。學生們表示，以後會更加主動地創造並把握用英文溝通的機會，這也為他們的未來創造了新的契機。
During this exchange event, students from Seastar High School, totaling 6 classes, actively participated and expressed that it was both a joyful and rare experience. Many students initially found making friends in English challenging, but through this exchange, they discovered it wasn’t as difficult as they had imagined. Students mentioned they would now be more proactive in creating and seizing opportunities to communicate in English, which also opens up new prospects for their future.
この交流イベントでは、シースター高校の6つのクラスの生徒たちが積極的に参加し、それが楽しくて貴重な経験だったと述べました。多くの生徒が最初は英語で友達を作ることが難しいと感じていましたが、この交流を通じて、想像していたよりもそう難しくないことに気づきました。生徒たちは今後、積極的に英語でコミュニケーションする機会を作り、活用することを約束しました。これは彼らの将来に新たなチャンスを提供することにもつながります。

此外，石原先生對於我們在四月大地震中的經歷表示深切的關心和慰問，此次來訪，他特別帶來了加賀高商學生們的書信及小卡片，並親自贈送了具有紀念意義的日本加賀郵局存錢筒。這份禮物讓海星中學的師生們感到無比欣慰和感動。
Moreover, Mr. Ishihara expressed deep concern and condolences for our experiences during the April earthquake. During his visit, he specially brought letters and small cards from students at Kaga High School and personally presented a commemorative money box from the Kaga Post Office. This gift deeply moved and comforted the students and teachers at Marine Star Junior High School.
また、石原氏は4月の地震での私たちの経験に対して深い関心と慰問の意を表しました。彼の訪問中、加賀高校の生徒たちからの手紙やカードを特別に持参し、加賀郵便局の記念の貯金箱を直々に贈呈しました。この贈り物は海星中学校の教師や生徒たちに大きな安らぎと感動を与えました。

海星中學校長陳海鵬表示，海星中學一向重視國際教育，積極開拓學生的眼界。開辦三年的2+1加拿大雙聯學制已連續三年錄取了全球排名第16的多倫多大學，今年更是獲得21萬加幣（約合台幣504萬元）的獎學金。而石原先生的訪問也進一步促進了兩國在文化與教育上的交流；未來，海星中學將繼續推動這類有意義的國際交流活動，讓更多學生有機會參與其中，成為具有國際視野和跨文化交流能力的優秀人才。
Principal Chen Haipeng of Haixing High School stated that the school has always valued international education, actively broadening students’ horizons. The 2+1 Canadian dual-degree program, which has been offered for three years, has successfully admitted students to the University of Toronto, ranked 16th globally, for three consecutive years. This year, students also received a scholarship of CAD 210,000 (approximately NT$5.04 million). Mr. Ishihara’s visit further promoted cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries. In the future, Haixing High School will continue to promote meaningful international exchange activities, allowing more students the opportunity to participate and become outstanding talents with international perspectives and cross-cultural communication abilities.
海星中学校長の陳海鵬氏は、海星中学が常に国際教育を重視し、積極的に学生の視野を広げてきたと述べました。三年間続けている2+1のカナダの双方向学制プログラムは、世界ランキング16位のトロント大学に生徒を連続して受け入れており、今年は210,000カナダドル（約台湾ドル5.04百万円）の奨学金も受け取りました。石原氏の訪問も両国の文化と教育の交流をさらに促進しました。海星中学は今後もこのような意義深い国際交流活動を推進し、より多くの学生が参加し、国際的な視野と異文化交流能力を持つ優れた人材になる機会を提供していく予定です。
