「金點設計獎」（Golden Pin Design Award）在1981年創立於台灣，現由「台灣設計研究院」（Taiwan Design Research Institute , TDRI）辦理獎項與策劃頒獎典禮及相關活動。2014年起開始走向「全球華人市場最頂尖設計獎項」的新定位，為華人設計產業取得發言權，並自2015年起，金點設計獎品牌針對不同目標族群分設「金點設計獎」、「金點概念設計獎」及「金點新秀設計獎」等三大獎賽，旨在褒揚傑出的創新設計產品與作品。

花蓮縣政府及花蓮縣文化局攜手專業團隊，歷經三年半的細心執行，最終和花蓮縣民及花蓮將軍府1936園區共同榮獲專業榮耀的華人設計獎，也謝謝文化部及各界的支持與關心。

◆作品概要：將軍府1936園區的設計重點在於「減法設計」，拆除圍牆和巷弄，創造開放的庭園環境。日式宿舍轉化為茶室，體現待客之道「おもてなし」。結合和風庭園與現代景觀，保留歷史建築原貌，並以餐飲為核心，營造熱鬧而不喧鬧的氛圍，實現自給自足。
◆作品概要（英）：The General’s Mansion 1936 Hualien emphasizes “subtractive design”, removing walls and alleyways to create an open garden environment. The Japanese-style dormitory was transformed into a teahouse to realize “Omotenashi,” the Japanese way of hospitality. Combining a Japanese-style garden with modern landscaping and preserving the original appearance of the historic building, food and beverages are placed at the core of the design, creating an atmosphere that is lively but not noisy.
