Monkeys have started to forage on their own. According to observations in Taroko National Park, they can no longer find humans to ask for food!

猿は自分で餌を探し始めました。太魯閣国家公園の観察によると、人間に食べ物を求めることができなくなりました！

花蓮縣太魯閣國家公園的臺灣獼猴，過去向遊客乞食、搶奪食物的情況屢見不鮮，今年0403大地震後，太魯閣國家公園災損嚴重，不少地方都封閉了，沒有了遊客，猴子無發再繼續「飯來張口」，慢慢的回歸自行覓食的本能，最近被太管處觀察到此一現象，認為是值得欣慰的事！

大地震後至今2024.06.20.已過了79天，雖然中橫公路大部分的落石已經清除，我們還是每日在峽谷中穿梭，進行遊憩據點基本的環境清潔維護工作。

峽谷、山稜、河流都仍完好，太魯閣的美麗除了表面的那一點滄桑其實沒有太大的改變。為了持續維護與管理環境，就算是地震後，在烈日與灰塵裡、在持續的落石與微雨中、在午後的短延時強降雨中、雖然遊客量幾乎零，但是巡邏勘查、砍草清掃的工作持續中，我們在蟬聲圍繞中汗流浹背，這就是我們的夏日。（然後我們最高興的一件事情是猴子終於肯自己覓食了。）

Today is the 79th day after the 7.2-magnitude earthquake in Taroko. Much of Highway 8 buried in landsildes were cleared after the quake, and the gorge, the mountain, and the river survived. Beauty here isn’t much change except for a bit more surface-weariness, so do us. To keep the maintenance of the area uderway, we travel through gorge weekly since the earthquake. Bearing the heat , dust , and the possiblity of rains and rockfalls, we clean facilities, cut weeds, and invasgate trails. Surrounded by the music of cicadas, this is our summer.
(and the happiest thing ever is monkeys here are finally willing to forage on their own.)
